Okay.

So, while we have had some wonderful highs lately with all the changes that are coming down the pike with Dax and his internship opportunities, we have had some craziness as well. It seems that on Sunday, my uncle Steve (where we had my Grandfathers 95th Birthday celebration in lovely Centralia, IL in November) was taking his two grand daugters - my second cousins (Brittany 11, and Brianna 8) to church - and was struck on the train tracks making a left turn, and all three were killed instantly. We cannot figure out how or why this happened. It is completely unlike Steve to put his grand children in danger like that or to not be aware of the capabilities of the car... All we know is that he was struck right on his side of the car and drug 2,000 feet until the train could stop. It was all very very sad. Dax and I spent the last two days traveling through Chicago and down to Centralia to the viewing and the funeral. It was really amazing... for the viewing ... there were people wrapped through this really large funeral home, out the door and around the block waiting to pay their respects. It is a very small town and everyone knows everyone. For the funeral procession people stopped their cars along the side of the road and some even got out to be respectful. I enjoyed the time with my family. I like it when we all get together like that... I just wish it wasn't for the circumstances that we got together. I am just sooo sad. I didn't want to say goodbye to my uncle Steve. I really loved that man. He was a huge man with a huge heart. I will really miss him. I didn't know the girls all that well. I had interacted with them on several occassions but didn't feel as though I knew them well. However, I do know their mom... and I can't imagine the hurt she feels losing both of her children and father in one fell swoop. I feel sooo deeply for her. It is all so sad. So sad. 10356
